The manufacturer also claims that H&N Field Target Trophy 8.64 Grain .177 Calibre pellets “give the tightest shot groups and that they provide the lowest rate of lead fouling and consistent shot spreads thanks to special alloy”.
These are favoured mostly by hunters because they often combine flat shooting characteristics with good energy retention at range, perfect for close quarter pests control.
I found that over 25 yards I had some issues with tight grouping although accuracy is dependant on many other factors for instance airgun, scope, atmospheric conditions and shooter ability, I did however have a couple of flyers but this could be down to other issues.
I consistently found that all 8 shots from the RM8 magazine were within the 1 inch mark which I was happy with, at less distance (approximately 20-22 yards) I found that they were virtually pellet on pellet.
I can easily see why these are a favourite and are much loved by air gunners, I also know of tests at over 35 meters that had groupings of 3/4” but as I said earlier a few factors would impact the accuracy.
All in all s great pellet with great reputation and pedigree, well worth testing out in most barrels.
